General Motors is recalling some large crossovers from the year 2011 and 2012 to secure the windshield wipers that might get loose and stop working. The windshield wipers loosen up because of snow or the ice buildup on or around them. The snow clogs the movement of the windshield wipers and might result in getting them loose. The loss of proper wiper function is hazardous, as it affects the drivers visibility and increases the chances of a crash. The American auto major has filed a defect notice with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration mentioning that the recall includes about 50,000 Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave vehicles.
The recall is likely to start this month and GM dealers will tighten the wiper arm fasteners free of cost. As the recall is related to just the harsh winter conditions, it applies only to the states of Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming and the District of Columbia.
