Currently, the Amaze, in its second-gen avatar, leads the sales charts for Honda Cars India
Nearly 20 years after it began operations in India, Honda has announced that it has sold over 15 lakh vehicles in the country so far. The first 5 lakh sales came in 14 years and 3 months, whereas it took Honda just 3 years and 7 months to sell the next 5 lakh units. However, sales really gained pace in the last 2 years and 10 months, helping the Japanese car manufacturer surpass the 15 lakh sales mark in August 2018.
Honda says the City, followed by the Amaze and the Jazz, have been the highest contributors to cumulative sales. While the City has been on sale for the longest time among the three, it’s the Amaze facelift that has been keeping dealerships abuzz with buyers. Especially since the second-gen Amaze took over, it has been clocking a monthly sales figure of nearly 10,000 units, trailing behind only the Maruti Dzire in the sub-4m compact sedan segment.
Honda’s sales network includes 341 dealerships spread across 231 cities in India. Apart from the above mentioned vehicles, the carmaker sells the Brio, WR-V, BR-V, Accord Hybrid and the CR-V, which will be replaced by its fifth-generation avatar in October 2018.
Here’s what Honda had to say about the achievement.
