    The Elevate undercuts its sedan iteration, the City, but also misses out on a hybrid powertrain

    Honda Elevate finally goes on sale in India, as the Japanese carmaker’s contender in the compact SUV space. The bookings have been open for a while and the deliveries are scheduled to commence right away.

    Honda has packed the Elevate with several premium features with the highlights listed below:

    • Electric sunroof

    • 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system

    • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

    • 7-inch semi-digital driver’s display

    • Wireless Charging

    • 8-speaker sound system

    Even with these features, it misses out on several comforts compared to its rivals, such as panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat, and ventilated front seats.

    Safety Check

    In terms of safety, the Elevate is well equipped and includes features such as: 

    • Up to six airbags

    • Lane-watch camera

    • ISOFIX child seat mounts

    • ESP with hill hold assist

    • ADAS ( lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control)

    It is the third car in the compact SUV segment, after the MG Astor and Kia Seltos, to get the radar and camera-based ADAS feature. Honda has crash tested the Elevate internally and the results show that it might get a strong safety rating.

    The Elevate gets the Honda City’s 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, which is rated at 121PS and 145Nm. Transmission options include 6-speed manual and CVT, the latter also getting paddle shifters. There’s no hybrid powertrain on offer, but the Elevate is getting an electrified version by 2026.
