HCIL India is getting aggressive with the 2014 Honda Mobilio launch, the third MPV iteration of the versatile Brio platform. The MPV will go on sale from next month, few dealers have already started taking booking of the same, while the official bookings will start next month. Out of all this, Honda made live the Mobilio's first Indian trailer on YouTube starring the comedy king Kapil Sharma. Kapil is stressing on the fuel efficiency quotient of the Mobilio in the video; there's no surprise that Honda's 1.5l i-DTEC is the most fuel efficient diesel motor in the country. So expect a staggering mileage tag of the Mobilio diesel similar to what Honda did with City and Amaze (26 and 25.8kmpl respectively).

What to expect in the Mobilio

  • Comfortable seven seater, Mobilio measure 4,386mm in length, when compared to Ertiga its 121mm longer.

  • It will certainly be the most fuel efficient MPV in its segment.

  • Both the engines will be potent and efficient and will offer MT and AT both.

  • The vehicle looks eye catchy and offers premium looking front compared to its siblings Amaze and Brio, featuring Honda's 'EXCITING H!!!' design philosophy.

  • On the inside, the Mobilio offers various seating alternation. While it offers black and beige dashboard with chrome accents having blue back-lit illumination compared to amber in Brio and Amaze.

  • The MPV offers roof mounted AC blowers.

  • It will feature touch screen infotainment system in the top-end version.

Mobilio is coming with a 1.5 liter i-DTEC turbo diesel motor similar to the City and Amaze diesel. The 1498cc motor churns out 98bhp at 3600rpm, while the max torque pops out at the engine speed of 1750rpm. When it comes to petrol, things are still hazy until the final revealing. The dilemma lies in the fact that whether the MPV will go with the Amaze's 1.2 i-VTEC producing 87bhp and 109Nm or the City's 1.5 i-VTEC which produces 117bhp and 145Nm.

The possibility falls for the bigger 1.5 i-VTEC as it is a seven seater MPV, the 1.5 will be apt for that much of size. Moreover, in Indonesia Honda offers Mobilio with 1.5L i-VTEC, so things are expected to be similar in the sub-continent as well. Just like the petrol counterpart, transmission options are also under-wraps. Well, petrol will be getting a 5-speed manual and the CVT AT, however, it's still not clear whether the diesel will stick to 5-Speed manual or 6-Speed from City.
