We all know that the Indian car market is going through its worst time ever in past decade, and the car manufacturers are facing big slowdown in the market. Despite such market conditions, Honda Cars India has registered a growth of 9.8 per cent in May 2013, thanks to the compact sedan "Amaze". The Japanese automaker has sold 11,342 units in May as against 10,334 units in the same time span last year. Honda Amaze shares the major chunk of the overall sales, as it accounting for 6036 units.
However, the other Honda products also recorded good sales volumes, like 2012 units of the facelifted Brio hatch, 3202 units of the iconic City, 68 units of the CR-V and 24 units of the Accord premium sedan. The company also exported a total of 738 units in May.
Commenting on the company's performance in May 2013 JnaneswarSen, senior vice president - marketing and sales, said, “We have started the financial year on a good note and would look to build on this positive trend in our new phase of growth in the country. Our success can be attributed to our attractive product portfolio and Honda brand promise of technology, performance and efficiency. We expanded our operating universe with the new Honda Amaze which continues to receive great response from the first time buyers and consumers looking for a family car.”
