The tenth-generation Accord will become the first front-wheel-drive car in the world to feature a 10-speed automatic transmission!

At Honda’s recently held annual meeting, the Japanese automaker announced that the all-new tenth-generation Accord will be revealed in the coming months.

Honda’s US counterpart, American Honda Motor Co., has revealed the drivetrain options of the upcoming sedan, thus indicating that the all-new sedan will make its global debut there first followed by Japan and other markets.

The 2018 Accord will be powered by three engine options, out of which, two of them are new to the nameplate and are borrowed from the hot-selling tenth-gen Civic (possibly India-bound).

To save Mother Earth, the tenth-generation of the Honda Accord will no longer feature its naturally-aspirated petrol engines, and this includes the famed 3.5-litre V6 as well.

  • 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo with CVT automatic or 6-speed manual (produces 190PS/242Nm in the all-new fifth-gen CR-V)

  • 2.0-litre VTEC Turbo with 10-speed automatic or 6-speed manual (produces 320PS/400Nm in the all-new Civic Type R)

  • Honda’s two-motor hybrid with E-CVT (produces 215PS of max power in the current Accord Hybrid)

With the addition of a 10-speed auto, the tenth-generation Accord is set to become the first car in the world to feature the same in a front-wheel-drive configuration.

In terms of aesthetics, the Accord is expected to get an evolutionary design. American Honda Motor Co. highlighted that the 2018 Accord will have ‘a dramatically lower and wider appearance that creates a more aggressive and athletic stance’. While the design may be new, we believe the next-gen Accord will be based on the Japanese automaker’s all-new design language that is expected to be revealed in the coming months.   Honda is expected to reveal more details on the upcoming Accord soon, so stay tuned to CarDekho for the same!
