Honda Cars India are mulling over to defer the launch of new Honda Jazz to next year. Showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo, it was scheduled to enter this fiscal year but it may get derailed as Honda says. Having said that, expect the new hatch to launch in the first half of 2015! The company stated that their current hot selling models - City, Amaze and recently launched Mobilio MPV demands are exceeding their expectations, they even started second shift recently at the Tapukara plant to reduce City’s waiting period.
Hironori Kanayama, President and CEO, Honda Cars India, enlightening on this - "Last year we announced that within this fiscal year we will come up with Mobilio and Jazz. But the great demand (for other models) is exceeding our expectations. So we started the second shift of our second plant."
"The demand seems to be so strong, so the launch of the Jazz is slightly adjusted. That's what we think. We have not yet taken a decision (on the exact time of launch). We anticipate the launch of Jazz any time next year," Kanayama added.
Speaking of the Honda Jazz, the new hatch will be coming with City’s 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel. The motor chucks out 98.8 bhp and 200 Nm of max torque, expect a six-speed manual from City to chip-in instead of Amaze’s 5-speed unit for improved efficiency. Petrol is likely to be the 1.2L i-VTEC instead of City’s 1.5L i-VTEC!
