Honda has showcased India-bound BR-V compact SUV at the on-going 2015 Thailand International Motor Expo. CarDekho’s Thailand counterpart - CarBay Thailand is covering the Expo live! The vehicle is most likely to make its debut in the country at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo, two months later, in February! We also drove the new BR-V prototype in Japan recently and found it pretty competitive. In India, BR-V will compete with compact SUVs like Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Terrano along with Tata Safari and Mahindra Scorpio, as it is a 7-seater. It is expected that after its reveal at the 2016 Auto Expo, BR-V will be launched in the following months.

Although the Honda BRV is largely based on the Mobilio, the vehicle successfully differentiates itself and it’s only the sides which hint of the Mobilio. The face is entirely different from Mobilio/Amaze and is in-line with the Honda’s global SUV line-up. While at the rear, connected tail lamps add a character to the overall design of the vehicle. Another good thing is that, Honda did not borrow the dashboard from Mobilio and Amaze, instead the new dashboard is an adaptation of one found in the City and the new Jazz.
The engine options are confirmed, it will be powered by the 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol and the 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel. Speaking of the transmission, 6-speed manual will be standard on both petrol and diesel while it will also get Honda’s new CVT transmission with the petrol.
