Honda Siel Cars India, the Japanese car major, recently stated that it is making plans for the entry-level small car for the Indian automobile market. This new small car from Honda is likely to give a close competition to India’s best selling car, Maruti Alto and Hyundai Santro. This new small car from Honda is likely to be available with the price tag between Rs 3-3.5 lakh. This new small car will be developed in Japan and it will be the third product of Honda Siel in the country.

The other two cars from Honda include the Honda Jazz and the upcoming second small car which has been codenamed Honda 2CV to be introduced during the festive season coming  year. Takashi Nagai, President and CEO, Honda Siel Cars India was found saying that globally it has been seen that there is a tendency towards the smaller cars and their company’s research and development department in Japan is watching and analyzing at segment which includes Maruti Alto and Hyundai Santro as well. He further added that presently they are working at the idea of joining the K cars in Japan along with few cars in India and Brazil and manufacturing a car smaller than what the company showcased in January during the Auto Expo.

The maiden small car of Honda called Honda Jazz which was introduced in the previous year, has had below par sales till now. But on the other side, Honda remains contented with the opportunities and prospects of the other small cars. The 2CV which is based on the concept that was showcased during the New Delhi expo, will probably be available with the price tag between Rs. 4-4.5 lakh. This will enable the product to compete with Hyundai i10 and Maruti Swift. Later, this model may also get the new sedan version. Nagai stated that presently they are focusing on successful launch of their next small car. He also added that with this launch, the company will hopefully raise its sales beyond one lakh units from the present 60,000 units.
