Honda, Toyota small car launch further delayed

It seems that the car lovers will still have to wait for few more months to enjoy the drive of highly awaited small cars from leading car manufacturing companies Honda and Toyota due to delay in supply of major equipments. As known Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) was supposed to launch its most awaited Honda Brio hatchback car by the end of August this year, similarly on the other side Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) has planned to launch its small car Toyota Liva during the month of June this year.

But due to disastrous natural calamity hindering the economy of Japan has affected the supply of major components of these cars, due to which both Honda and Toyota will have to postpone the launching date of their cars. Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, newly appointed Vice-President, HSCI said that the company imports components for their cars from Thailand and to some extent from Japan. Though, there is decrease in supply from Japan but hopefully in next three months situation will improve and the company might be able to launch Honda Brio on time during the festive season in India.

Due to decrease in supply of components Honda has announced to reduce its production at Greater Noida plant where the models of Honda City, Jazz, Civic and Accord models are manufactured due to shortage of components. The same crisis is being faced by Toyota regarding the launch of Toyota Liva next month which is the hatchback version of Toyota Etios which was launched in the beginning of this year by the company. Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director (Marketing ) Toyota Kirloskar said, till now the launch of Toyota Liva is expected on time. But before that they will call on a meeting to review the situation by the end of May.
