The entire world is taken aback with the Japan tragedy, the after effects of the earthquake and tsunami can be seen across the globe. The Japanese auto giants have already closed their factories, the entire Japan is still under the threat of nuclear meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. Along with the major auto giants the local manufacturers of the hybrid drivetrains have also been affected with the tragic event.

As per the sources close to Jalopnik, the production of Ford Fusion and Escape hybrid cars might be hampered  in the coming time. However the American auto giant Ford has made it clear that there will not be any shortage of the batteries which are sourced from Japan. The batteries for Ford Fusion and Escape hybrids are sourced through Sanyo.

Cars present in the Indian auto market like Toyota Prius and Honda Civic Hybrid may get affected because of this. The reason behind this is the shortage in the supply of parts from Japan which will gradually affect the production of both the Hybrid cars in India. Japanese auto biggies like Toyota, Honda have already closed their plants in Japan , Suzuki is also planing to shut the factories due to the fear of radiation leaks in Japan.
