The two leading Indian automobile players, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai are initiating to come with two premium sedans in 2011. Maruti Suzuki is looking ahead to bring in its premium saloon, Maruti Kizashi by the first quarter of 2011. On the other hand, Hyundai is also expected to come with its premium sedan Hyundai Avante. As per the industrial sources Maruti Kizashi is expected to come in the price range of 10-12 lakhs and Hyundai Avante is also  speculated to come in the same price range around Rs. 11 lakhs.

Maruti Kizashi is company's most ambitious car and company has carefully planned and analysed its chances before entering the Indian market which is the make or break ground for cars from all over the world. The present image of Maruti in the domestic auto market is associated with small and efficient cars, not with the luxury cars but the company would nevertheless going ahead with it. The car has already received high appreciation in the US and Japanese market. Maruti Kizashi is expected to come in J24B 2.4 litre 4-cylinder,DOHC, petrol engine with both automatic and manual transmission. This D-segment car will have maximum power of 185 hp at 6,500 rpm and maximum torque of 170 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The Maruti Kizashi will have standard safety features like Anti-lock braking system(ABS), Electronic braking-force distribution and an ESP.

Maruti has not been much effective with the premium models on the sales front and lack the finesse, refinement & premium feel that one expects. Take the SX4 for instance that has Inconsistent interior quality while the older engine does no good to the car. The Maruti Grand Vitara too doesn't look like an 18 lakh car esp from the inside.

Hyundai Motors, is also to come with its premium saloon, Hyundai Avante. The car is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2011. The car might come with 1.6 liter 4-cylinder, DOHC, petrol engine and have a six speed automatic transmission. The powerful VVT engine is expected to have the capacity to churn maximum power of 118 bhp at 6200 rpm and maximum torque 260 Nm at 1900 rpm. Hyundai has also been not much successful in the sedan segments, however its Hyundai Verna has received high appreciation in the auto market this year. The company is expecting a shining future with Avante on shores.

Hyundai Motors, one of the safest car makers globally would not like to compromise with their safety standard remarks in Hyundai Avante. Hyundai Avante will be equipped with 6 airbags , ABS, EBD, ESP, fog lamps, parking sensors and rear seat belts. The car is also to come with wide rang of comfort features like Multi-functioning steering wheel, power windows, tinted glass, rear defogger, head restraints, electric driver seat adjustments, remote fuel filler, remote boot, remote central locking and AC with climate control.

With both the top Indian small car manufacturers launching their premium saloon next year, competition looks stiff for both Maruti Kizashi and Hyundai Avante.

I've been following hyundai avante since Nov to see if there is a date of launch sneek out, but looks like no one has commented about it, There appears to be two versions in its interior styling, the one which is stripped off with TFT screen, (which is a GPS, TV, touch screen),the HID lamps are also stripped. korean videos show there is also a automated assisted parking in its high end model. Thus with a price tag of 11-12L,, I'm afraid india might be blessed only with a stripped down version. and yet, despite its impeccable design, 1.6l seems slightly unacceptable, a 2.0l would have turned a lot of her rivals down. however, a quick diesel variant entry into the market would compensate for this, despite kizashi's launch today coz the latter simply would take a very long time for its diesel version. I also happen to talk to a senior mechanic in hyundai who have no clue about the car (generally they are oriented 3 months prior to launch ), so i'ant sure if this is going to happen any future so let's wait and watch.. If any one got a hint on the launch date, please post. it would be greatly appreciated.
