Proving CarDekho's claims right that Hyundai should rather develop a compact sedan on the i10 than to work on a sedan version of an already 4-metre long car, the i20, the company has now officially disclosed the same in a statement. The information has been disclosed by Hyundai Turkey's Chairman, Umit Karaarslan who said that the next generation Hyundai i10 and the compact sedan based on that will be produced in Turkey.
Talking about making Turkey a small automobile production base camp, he said that the company would produce a new model along with i20 and i10 there, which will also enhance production capacity to up to 200,000 units.“We will begin to produce new and bigger versions of the i10, which will be set between the i10 and i20. As part of the same platform we can easily produce a sedan, so as soon as we release the other model we will begin to work on sedan production." he said.
However there are no official words on to bring in the i10 based compact sedan to India, we are sure they would as they are looking for a car which can replace the ageing Accent, which isn't doing as good for the company in the country as other of its small cars. And what can be a better option than to bring in a compact sedan built on the i10, which is already a trusted and lovable car in the country. And like we mentioned above the sedan will be based on the 2014 i10, which will have an entirely new platform capable of using for a compact sedan as well.
So we can expect both the new generation Hyundai i10 and the compact sedan based on that to enter India sometime in 2014.
