Hyundai Getz to be phased-out from India soon

Hyundai India, country's largest car maker has decided to phase-out its Getz model from the county. The Getz will be replaced by Hyundai i20 model which is already available in market. The Hyundai Getz has already been phased-out in overseas markets but as new emission norms are going to be implemented in India from 1st of April the company has decided to discontinue with it.
The sales of the Hyundai Getz is downward slopping since last few months and after the launch of Hyundai i20, Indian buyers are preferring to buy i20 over Getz as it has all new generation features and a unique design. In other countries the Hyundai i20 was launched after phasing -out the Getz but in India both of the car are there in company's portfolio from last one year.
Hyundai India is also planning to launch a new small car in the country by year 2011. Mr H.S. Lheem, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of HMIL, said that company is planning to phase out Getz model and it is also working on plans of launching a small car which will be powered with an 800cc engine. The company currently sells some of the most popular cars in India including Hyundai i10, Hyundai i20, Hyundai Santro Xing and Hyundai Verna.
Hyundai India is country's largest exporter of automobiles and it sells Hyundai i10 and Santro Xing model in overseas markets. The company is second largest car maker in India after Maruti which holds around 54% market share in the country.
