Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), India's second largest car manufacturer has reported a 4.30 per cent growth in total sales in April, 2013. The company had sold 56,954 units as compared to 54,696 units sold in the corresponding month previous year.
However, Hyundai India has recorded a decline of 7.60 per cent in sales in domestic market. It had sold 32,403 units as against 35,070 units in the year-ago period. The company has recovered all negative growth in domestic sales with export markets. The Exports of the South Korean auto giant went up by 25.67 per cent to 24,551 units in April 2013 as compared to 19,536 units in the same period last year.
Rakesh Srivastava, HMIL Senior Vice President (Sales & Marketing) said that,"The exports have shown good growth on account of strong demand from non-European markets, while the domestic market continues to witness pressure...there are signs of recovery with the increase in demand for petrol cars,". In the present scenario of slowdown, HMIL is continuously gaining market share, he added.
