Hyundai plans to expand its used car business

Hyundai Motors India Ltd, the second largest car maker of India is planning to expand its used car business. The company will do it for all its present dealerships all over India. Presently, Hyundai operates Hyundai Advantage as its used car business. This business has got a dealer network of around 296 dealers all across India. The business also includes 597 service points. HMIL senior director (sales and marketing), Y K Koo commented that they are planning to extend their used car portfolio for covering all its dealerships by the end of the present financial year. It is an important segment for Hyundai to attract new customers, added Koo.

Currently, Hyundai Motors India Ltd sells six models of passenger cars across segments. The A2 segment includes Hyundai Santro, Hyundai i10 and A3 segment has got Hyundai Accent and Hyundai Verna Transform. Similarly, the A5 segment comprises of Hyundai Sonata Transform. HMIL sells around 30,000 units every month. The company hopes that this figure can be increased up to 50,000 per month with the support of next Gen Hyundai i10.

Recently, the company had announced that it is all ready to launch a new variant of Elantra in the US market. This new model Hyundai Elantra will be unveiled at the upcoming Auto Show at Los Angeles. Hyundai 2011 model is all ready to go under production beginning later this year at the Alabama manufacturing facility of Hyundai. At present, the U.S.-specification Elantra models are manufactured in Ulsan, Korea.

no doubt, santro is not only a good but a best option but the company has to think about the rates of the spare parts. i have been useing the same for the last say eight years. but the only thing is spare parts cost. if u compare it with maruti they are much more costly and availabilty is also poor as compared to maruti.did u ever thnk y hyundai is no. 2 just because of the cost of after sale expencess.
