Hyundai has accomplished a milestone achievement with the rollout of 10 million cars in India. The 10 millionth car to roll out from the manufacturer’s production line in Tamil Nadu is the newly launched Alcazar.
Hyundai debuted in the Indian market in 1998 with the Santro, which was its first popular model. The Santro was quick to make Hyundai one of the biggest car manufacturers in India. Followed by that, it launched the Accent, Sonata and Elantra. Another big runaway success was the i10, which was considered a more premium alternative to the Santro.
The highlight of Hyundai was that it had cars ranging right from the entry-level budget hatchbacks to executive sedans and premium SUVs back in the day. Even now, it has 11 cars on sale - Santro, Grand i10 Nios, Aura, i20, Verna, Venue, Creta, Alcazar, Elantra, Kona EV and Tucson - ranging right from around Rs 5 lakh to Rs 27 lakh.
It recently launched the Alcazar three-row SUV, which is based on the Creta and is available in 6- and 7-seater configurations. The Alcazar is priced from Rs 16.30 lakh to Rs 20.14 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Hyundai’s next big launch is expected to be the AX1 micro SUV (codename), which will be positioned between the Grand i10 Nios and i20. It will compete with the Maruti Ignis, Mahindra KUV100 and the upcoming Tata HBX.
