Important cars launching in first quarter of 2014

Good Bye 2013!!! As this year has not been the best for the Indian car market, carmakers across the globe are planning to make 2014 a remarkable one. Next year will see the country's auspicious Delhi Motor Show, where car manufacturers are eyeing to get closer to their prospective buyers. Moreover, this Auto Show will also feature several new products, facelifts and concepts, which will be launched in India in near future. The first quarter of 2014 is all set to give a series of important cars to the market. To simplify things for you, we bring to you a list of important cars that would be making an appearance by the early 2014.
New 2014 Honda City: The Japanese carmaker will launch the fourth-generation City sedan on January 7, 2014 in India. For the first time, the country's most lovable sedan will get the diesel powertrain. The new City will be made available in both petrol and diesel guise. While the petrol version gets the tried and tested 1.5-litre i-VTEC mill producing 117bhp, the diesel model will be powered by the 1.5-litre i-DTEC mill that develops 98bhp. It is the same engine that also powers the company's compact sedan, Amaze. The new City diesel is claimed to be the country's most fuel efficient car with 26kmpl of whooping mileage. Its petrol version will be made available in both manual and automatic versions.
Datsun Go: It is a well known fact that the Indian auto industry is driven by the small and low cost cars, and automakers understand and launched several low cost cars in India. Nissan too felt the need of a low cost brand and it revived the Datsun brand after 37 long years specifically for the developing nations including India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa. The first product to be launched by the company will be the Go hatchback. It is expected to be launched by the end of the first quarter of the 2014. Based on the old Micra platform, the new Go hatchback will be powered by the 1.2-litre, three cylinder engine that also powers the current Micra, however the engine will be tuned to offer more fuel efficiency.
Hyundai Grand i10 Sedan: India's second largest carmaker, Hyundai is also in a cue to explore the growing compact sedan segment, which currently comprises of Honda Amaze, Maruti Swift Dzire and Tata Indigo eCS. The company will launch the Grand i10 sedan on 4th of February 2014, ahead of the next year's Indian Auto Expo. It will retain the styling cues from its hatchback sibling and will be made available in both petrol and diesel guise. The gasoline model will be powered by a 1.2-litre engine that churns out a maximum power output of 81.9bhp, while the diesel model will feature the 1.1-litre U2 CRDi engine producing 70bhp. Both automatic and manual version will be launched.
Tata Nano Diesel: India's leading carmaker, Tata will unveil the diesel version of the Nano at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The vehicle has already been spotted during its test mules on the Indian roads. It is expected that Nano diesel would be the country's most fuel efficient car. It is likely to be powered by a 2-cylinder, 800cc turbocharged diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of around 40-45bhp. Media reports suggest that the new Nano diesel would return a whooping fuel economy of about 35-40kmpl.
Honda Mobilio: The Japanese automaker will unveil the Brio based MPV, Mobilio at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The vehicle is expected to be launched by the April 2014. It will be powered by the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that churns out the maximum power output of 117bhp, while the diesel model will get the 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine producing 98bhp. Coming in both manual and automatic transmission, the vehicle will compete against the likes of Maruti Ertiga and Chevrolet Enjoy.
Mahindra Scorpio Facelift: The country's largest Utility vehicle maker is all set to launch the revamp version of its highly successful Scorpio SUV by the end of the first quarter of 2014. The vehicle has been spotted several times during its test rounds on the Indian roads and is expected to get updates to both inside and out. It will be unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo. Under the hood, the SUV continue to be powered by the same 2.2-litre mHawK diesel engine that produces 120bhp, however this motor will be tuned to offer better performance and efficiency.
Audi A3 sedan: The German luxury carmaker, Audi will launch the A3 premium saloon in the country by the early 2014. It will be unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo and is expected to be the company's cheapest offering in the country. The Audi A3 has already been spotted several times during its test rounds on the Indian roads. Coming in both petrol and diesel guise, the new A3 is expected to be priced around Rs. 22-25 lakh. The petrol model will get the 1.4-litre TFSI or 1.8-litre TFSI mill, while the diesel model will feature either 1.8L or 2.0L oil burner.
