Indian auto sector might become fourth largest globally by 2015

The Indian automobile industry to become the fourth biggest auto industry globally by 2015. Booze & company, the consultancy firm who conducted the research also added that it will overtake the European auto market.
Vikas Sehgal the partner in the firm revealed that the Indian auto industry by 2020 is expected to clock sales of more than 6 million. And with these sales figures it is sure to surpass the European auto market.
India, China and United States are the emerging auto markets, which are expected to act as the key auto industry in the international auto mobile industry. It is being estimated that by 2025, more than 80 per cent of the auto mobiles will be designed in these three markets.
Mr Segal also said that the A and B segment cars will be designed in the Indian auto market and sold globally. However, the C and D sector will be designed in China, on the other hand US will cater to the high end segment.
It is being expected that Maruti Suzuki India market share will drop down. It will face intense competition from the international players such as Ford Motors, Hyundai, Toyota Motors and Volkswagen. It is being speculated that India will fetch investments of more than USD 2 billion in the foreign direct investment annually for a while as the auto mobile makers are setting up 1 or 2 manufacturing plants yearly.
