Indian Auto-Sector Grows by 9.52 per cent

Last month in November, Indian auto sector witnessed a growth of 9.52 per cent, compared to the growth of November 2013. As per the data released by the apex industry body, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), automakers in the country retailed around 1,56,445 units in November 2014 as compared to 1,42,849 units in the same month year ago.

In the commercial segment, sales rose to 9.05 per cent to 47,686 units in November SIAM said. Vehicle sales across categories registered an increase of 5.03 per cent to 16,03,292 units from 15,26,514 units in November 2013, it added.

Let’s dig deep on the companies contributing majority of sales.

Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

India’s largest passenger carmaker Maruti Suzuki witnessed a growth of 19.5 percent for the month of November 2014. The automaker sold 1,10,147 units in the month, up against 92,140 units in the same month last year. Its domestic sales grew by 17 percent on yearly basis to 1 lac units, while the exports surged 52.7 percent to 10,123 units during the same period.

Hyundai

Hyundai Elite

Hyundai India registers a cumulative growth of 8.7 per cent in the month of November, 2014. The automaker retailed 35,511 vehicles last month and exported 18,500 vehicles with a cumulative sales of 54,011 units. Compared to November 2013 sales, Hyundai recorded 6 per cent profit in domestic market with 14.3 per cent gain in export vehicles. Moreover, the carmaker’s premium hatch Hyundai Elite i20 got a landmark booking of 56,000+ in just four months of its launch.

Tata Motors

Tata Zest

Tata Motors registers a growth of 2 percent as the homegrown manufacturer's cumulative sales including commercial and passenger vehicles in November 2014 stood at 41,720 vehicles, while last year in November, automaker sold 40,863 vehicles. The domestic sales for the month remained at 37,427 units.

Ford

Ford Endeavour

Ford India retailed 12,762 vehicles in combined domestic sales and exports in November, as against 12,050 vehicles in the corresponding month previous year. Company's domestic sales stood at 5,661 vehicles, in comparison to 7,909 units sold in the same period last year. While the exports remained at 7,101 vehicles, compared to 4,141 units a year ago.

Toyota Motors

Toyota Innova

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has sold a total of 12,175 units in Nov 2014 in India, registering a 19% growth when compared to 10,208 units in Nov 2013. The company exported 1,959 units of Etios, Etios Liva and Etios Cross together last month while the total registered sales including exports stood at 14,134 units in Nov 2014. This is a growth of 11% as compared to 12,748 units in the corresponding month last year.
