There is a new trend in Indian car market. Now the customers are opting for high-end car models than entry-level cars. Most of the car company's car sales registered higher percentage of top-end cars. The reason for the new trend is advance high-tech features like anti-lock brake system, air-bags, auto temperature control, engine immobilizer, alloy wheels, trip meter, power windows, computerized locking and specific metallic colors are luring customers to buy higher-priced models. Maruti Swift, the largest selling model in the segment, Skoda Fabia, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, Fiat Grande Punto and Ford Fusion — loaded with most of these features — have rolled out one after the other. Taking a cue from the customers choice for the top end 1.5S variant for its flagship Honda City Sedan, Honda Siel cars top-end sedan Maruti SX4, the top-end Zxi variant forms over 70% of the total sales, while the trend remains the same for Maruti Swift DZire sedan where Zxi and Vxi variants sales outstrip the base Lxi. Toyota also saw sales zooming for its premium variants. Recently, Tata Motors' revolutionary small car, Tata Nano, surprisingly saw more customers queuing up for its top-end LX variant.
