Nissan is reportedly working on the possibility of bringing back its offroader the X-Trail in India in the coming festive season. The car served as the flagship SUV for the manufacturer until it was discontinued in 2014 due to its diminishing sales. The all new car looks a lot more sporty as it is based on the latest design philosophy from Nissan. And it could also indicate towards the fact that Nissan might slowly revamp its lineup in India, beginning with this one.
Compared to the previous X-Trail, the new one is sportier, its cues focus on a distinctive grill flanked by angular headlamps, flowing sides, along with a contemporary rear setup. The insides carry the design language as the exteriors, like layered dash made up of quality plastics and combination of black-beige and silver inserts. Moreover, it will be getting the latest infotainment system and instrumentation system from Nissan. The seat count is expected to be 6 passenger plus driver.
Under the hood, X-Trail is expected to get the Nissan 2.0 DCi motor and might be mated to a CVT gearbox. Though, it is expected to be coupled to an AWD system, this all new car will be more of a soft off-roader, contradictory to the out gone X-Trail.
X-Trail was a great product, but the CBU route made it high priced and pushed it among the cars like Fortuner and others of its kind. Certainly, for a car that looks more like a mid-sized SUV, it was high priced even for people who wanted to own it. And as Nissan is not heard of making any manufacturing plan for the X-Trail, it could come as CBU or CKD-at least.
