The updated D-Max adds plenty of additional features along with aesthetic changes and a new downsized diesel engine.
Isuzu UK has detailed the 2017 model-year D-Max facelift and the updated model is up for order there. The previous model of the pick-up is on sale in India (launched in May 2016) and is known as the D-Max V-Cross in the country.
The thoroughly updated version of the pick-up comes with a new engine, additional features and updated styling in the UK (also available in Thailand). Speaking of its Indian debut, as the previous version was only launched last year, this facelift model is likely to be introduced here in 2018. This year, the Japanese automaker will drive in its premium D-Max-based SUV, the MU-X, in India.
The 2017 model year D-Max in the UK gets a restyled bumper grille and headlamps. The headlamps now come with LED daytime running lights. The side profile is similar to the previous model, save for the new set of alloys. The rear profile gets subtly updated tailgate design with an integrated spoiler and LED tail lamps.
On the inside, the biggest change is the addition of a new nine-inch infotainment system with a standalone touchscreen. It supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration and is coupled to a six-speaker system. It also doubles up as a reverse parking camera screen and rear parking sensors are also provided. The instrument cluster has been updated and is lifted straight from the facelifted India-bound MU-X.
The biggest change is the addition of a new 1.9-litre diesel engine. This engine is also available in the D-Max and the MU-X available in Thailand. The new downsized oil burner has replaced the old 2.5-litre unit (available in India) and produces 164PS of max power and 360Nm of peak torque. A new six-speed manual is standard with the 2017 model year pick-up truck, while it can also be had with a new six-speed automatic. This new engine is also expected to be launched in India in the MU-X at a later stage. The possibility is there that the D-Max might it get as well in the country.
