Jeep has premiered its first all-electric offering in the form of the Avenger compact SUV. It is making its market debut in Europe, at the 2022 Paris Motor Show, and is expected to make its way to India in due course.
Jeep Avenger Range And Performance
The Jeep Avenger features a 54kWh battery pack as developed by the Stellantis group, good for a Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) rated range of 400km in the combined cycle, which goes up to 550km in the urban cycle. Its front wheels are driven by an electric motor with a peak performance rating of 156PS and 260Nm.
The 400-volt electric architecture allows the Avenger EV to charge its battery pack from 20 to 80 per cent in 24 minutes using a 100kW fast-charger. Meanwhile, an 11kW AC charger would take 5.5 hours to replenish the battery pack from empty to full.

Avenger Off-road Abilities
It may only be a front-wheel-drive electric SUV, but the Jeep Avenger still comes with the brand’s iconic Selec-Terrain system and hill descent control. The six drive modes on offer are Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow, Mud and Sand.
The Avenger EV’s design is also built to be off-road capable thanks to the short overhangs. It has a ground clearance of 200mm, a 20-degree approach angle, 20-degree breakover angle and a 32-degree departure angle.
Jeep Avenger Design
The first all-electric Jeep SUV offering is likely its smallest as well, and it is shorter than the Renegade, measuring only 4.08 metres long. However, the large 18-inch wheels in the squared-off wheel arches give it an imposing road presence complete with muscular proportions and cladding all-around. The grille is designed to extend forwards which would protect the headlamps in the case of a head-on impact.
Its side profile design is sleek too with the rear door handles mounted on the C-pillar. Around the rear, its LED taillamps are housed in a deep recess like the headlamps, and have an X-shaped motif. The only discerning detail about the Avenger being an electric SUV is the small, blue coloured “e” badge on the grille and the boot lid.
Jeep will also be offering the Avenger with a variety of official accessories allowing owners to personalise their SUV. Even the model that debuted at the Paris Motor Show gets special cosmetic details like a unique camouflage livery, blue highlights and gloss black wheels.
A Modern And Practical Interior
This is our first time seeing the interior of the Jeep Avenger electric SUV and we like what we see. It has a relatively simplistic dashboard with a vent like design that spans most of its width. The only thing on top of it is the 10.25-inch touchscreen in the centre, adjacent to the digital driver’s display which is offered in two sizes: seven and 10.25 inches.
Under the main dashboard structure lies a storage tray that also spans from the centre till the end of the passenger’s side. There is more storage in the central console tunnel below the array of buttons for the drive selector. This one can be covered with a lid and also houses the access for the charge points and a wireless charging pad. It’s safe to say, you won’t be lacking for space in the cockpit of the Avenger EV. Some of you will be glad to know that this modern-day EV comes with physical controls for the auto AC and a dial for the volume adjustment.
In terms of features, the Avenger EV comes with power-adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, multicolour ambient lighting, powered tailgate and will later be available with a sunroof as well. The onboard tech includes wireless smartphone compatibility as well as connected car features.
Avenger EV Safety Features
Jeep offers the Avenger electric compact SUV with a wide array of safety features. This includes 360-degree parking sensors and 180-degree rear-view camera with drone view. The ADAS suite offers features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind spot monitoring, auto emergency braking and drowsy driver alert.
The battery pack placed under the seats and the centre console has also been given extensive protection for the Avenger to be used like any proper Jeep SUV.
Expected Launch
Pre-bookings for the Jeep Avenger are now open for some European markets and will be reaching showrooms in early 2023. While Jeep has not made any comments regarding the EV’s arrival to India, the Avenger is likely to make its way here by 2024 as the brand’s first electric offering in the country.
