JK Tyre Baja Student India 2016 ends, Team Forza of Pune declared champion

More than 1300 engineering students participated in this edition of BSI from across the country
JK Tyre Baja Student India 2016 draw came to an end on Wednesday and Forza Racing Team of Sinhgad Academy of Engineering at Pune was declared the overall champions of the event. They were awarded the JK Tyre BSI 2016 trophy by Dr Raghupati Singhania, Chairman & Managing Director, JK Tyre & Industries Limited. The second and third positions were bagged by Road Runners from Vellore Institute of Technology and Team Piranha Racing of Maharashtra Institute of Technology respectively.
Congratulating the students and the organisers, Dr Raghupati Singhania, Chairman & Managing Director, JK Tyre & Industries Limited, said, “JK Tyre Baja Student India is providing the next generation of engineers a platform to learn the real life applications of their classroom knowledge. The zeal that we see in these young engineers is extraordinary and surely reassuring for the future of India’s journey to becoming technologically at par with the world superpowers.”
Though Team Forza Racing struggled in previous events but their excellent performance in the Endurance race, that carries maximum weight-age, took them way up the scoring charts. According to the organizers the ‘JK Tyre Baja Student India 2016' adhered to stringent international guidelines and all safety measures were followed by the participants while designing the cars and also during testing phase. To lend credibility to the event, the competition was judged by experienced global experts from across Automotive Design, Manufacturing and Business fields. Emphasizing the popularity of the event Soumya Kanti Bose, convener, JK Tyre Baja Student India 2016, said, “Last year, BSI 2015 was attended by over 800 students but this time it grew to more 1300 students. We are happy to associate with a company with as longstanding credentials in motorsports as JK Tyre.”
In the 2013, JK Tyre had introduced the JK Racing India Series season in order to fill in the void for its find for the next Formula One driver and give Indian race drivers, a world-class exposure. This series was formerly known as Formula BMW, but after it was acquired by JK Tyre in 2011, it was rechristened the JK Racing Asia Series. The Racing and Karting programme by JK Tyre has been the breeding ground for the country’s motorsport talents like Armaan Ebrahim, Karun Chandhok, Aditya Patel and other new emerging talents.
