ARAI fuel-economy figures show the Sonet tops the Venue in terms of fuel efficiency.
Kia’s latest offering in India, the Hyundai Venue-based Sonet, is all but launched. While we eagerly await the sub-4m’s attempt to dethrone the Venue, various details about the Sonet have surfaced. A recent leak has also revealed the fuel efficiency and 0-100kmph times of the Sonet, confirming one advantage over the Venue, among other things.
When compared with the Venue, the Sonet comes out on top in terms of fuel efficiency. Here’s a variant-wise comparison:

For the MT 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, the Venue’s fuel economy is slightly lower than the Sonet’s 18.3kmpl, at 18.15kmpl. The naturally aspirated petrol variant of the Venue again falls behind with 17.52kmpl as compared to the Sonet’s 18.4kmpl. Even the MT diesel variant of the Venue falls short with 23.4kmpl as opposed to the Sonet’s claimed figure of 24.1kmpl.
Keeping aside the engine specs for a moment, let’s talk about what we know of the Sonet. It will be offered in two broad trims, like the Seltos, namely the GT Line and the Tech Line. It will have a host of features on offer such as a 10.25-inch infotainment system, wireless charging, sunroof, and an air purifier.
The Sonet has definitely one-upped its sibling before it has even launched. Kia has already opened pre-launch bookings for the Sonet for Rs 25,000. It is expected to be priced around Rs 7 lakh to Rs 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The Sonet will lock horns with the Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and not to forget, its sibling: the Hyundai Venue.
