The Kia Sonet has won much admiration for its exterior looks but let’s not forget, its interior will be setting new segment standards as well

Update (18/09/2020): Kia has launched the Sonet with prices beginning from Rs 6.71 lakh (ex-showroom). Read more about it here.

You have seen the pictures. The design of it has taken over your mind. The standards have been set. And you have decided that the Sonet will be your next car. That’s what most of you are thinking. In that case you should take a good look at its interior too. After all if you buy the Sonet, that’s where you will be spending all your time, unlike the bystanders who will spend all of their time looking at that fabulous exterior. So here’s an indepth look at the upcoming Kia Sonet’s interior.

Cabin Ambience

The Sonet will be offered in GT Line and HT Line variants, and the one pictured here is the GT Line variant. It gets an all-black cabin with red contrast stitching in places, just like the GT Line Seltos. The roof is done up in a shade of beige though, and strikes a nice balance inside the cabin.

The dashboard features a symmetrical layout with some elements being picked up straight from the Seltos, and others being completely new.

Steering Wheel

The Sonet’s steering wheel has been lifted straight from the Seltos and gets all your cruise control and audio control buttons. The GT Line variant comes with a flat bottom wheel.

The buttons for the front parking sensors, traction control and headlight adjustment are laid out to the right of the steering wheel.

Pedals/Gearbox

The automatic transmission shifter pictured here has been lifted straight out of the Seltos. The pedals, alteast for the automatic variants, come in a metal finish.

Instrument Cluster

The part analogue, part digital instrument cluster is a whole new design though. The tachometer, fuel gauge and engine temperature readouts have been shifted to the sides, and the centre is dominated by two different digital layouts. The left side shows the speed whereas the right side is a new multi-information display that shows all the relevant information like traction modes, drive modes, navigation data and more.

Touchscreen

The touchscreen design is integrated into the instrument cluster, like the Seltos. The 10.25-inch unit is the same one that you’ll also find in the Seltos.

It also gets similar features like the UVO Connect suite of connected car technology. You even get a Bose sound system like the Seltos with sound mood lighting.

Dashboard Layout

The first thing that hits you about the Sonet’s dashboard is its vertical air vents. They look quite cool and are a departure from the horizontal or circular cents we see on most cars. The climate control buttons are tucked neatly between them and the traction and drive modes buttons are placed further underneath.

The Sonet also gets ventilated seats for the front passengers and those buttons are placed on either side of the traction and drive modes controls.

GT Line Badging

Just like the Seltos, the GT Line badging can be found on multiple surfaces inside the Sonet's cabin.

Airbags

The Sonet will be offered with up to 6 airbags.

Sunroof

The Sonet will be offered with a sunroof from the factory.

Driver’s seat

The driver seat will be available with a manual height adjustment feature.

Smartphone Charging

The Sonet will be available with a USB charging port at the front and one at the back. Additionally, there will be another USB socket for media playback and a 12V power socket in the front. The Sonet will come with the option to charge your smartphone wirelessly as well.

Rear AC Vents/Air Purifier

The Sonet will get vertically shaped air vents for the second row as well.

What’s more, the Sonet will also get an air purifier with perfume diffuser right above that. This feature can be found in the Seltos as well and the unit looks quite similar to that of bigger SUVs.

Boot Space

The Sonet gets a deep set boot which means that it should be able to take in quite a bit of luggage. Just to give you an idea, the Venue’s boot offers 350 litres of cargo space.
