The Nissan Magnite is poised to enter the sub-4m SUV segment in India by late November. The carmaker has officially confirmed the variants and powertrains options that will be on offer with its latest model. The Magnite will be available in five variants with three powertrain options:
Nissan Magnite Engine Option |
Variants |
1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol with 5-speed MT |
XE, XL, XV, XV Premium |
1.0-litre turbo-petrol with 5-speed manual |
XL, XV, XV Premium, XV Premium(O) |
1.0-litre turbo-petrol with CVT automatic |
XL, XV, XV Premium, XV Premium(O) |
Note: Nissan will offer the Tech Pack range of features from XV variant onwards with any powertrain.
As listed above, the Magnite will get the choice of two 1.0-litre petrol engines. The naturally aspirated unit, the same one offered in the Renault Triber, will only come with the 5-speed manual. Meanwhile, the new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine will get the choice of a 5-speed manual as well as a CVT. The exact power output of both engines is yet to be announced, but in Thailand, the turbo-petrol engine is rated at 100PS and 152Nm while the Triber engine makes 72PS and 96Nm.

Nissan will be offering the most affordable base-spec Magnite XE with the less powerful petrol engine only. The CVT automatic will be available on all turbo-petrol variants of the Magnite. The Tech Pack, which adds features like a wireless charging pad, air purifier, ambient lighting, puddle lights and a JBL sound system, is offered from the XV variant onwards with all engine options.
Some of the variant-wise features of the Magnite have also been shared by the carmaker. The Nissan sub-4m SUV will come with 16-inch wheels, roof rails, skid plates, power windows, dual-tone interiors and a 3.5-inch LCD driver’s display as standard. The XL variant adds a 6-speaker audio system with steering-mounted controls, auto AC, and power-adjustable and foldable outside rearview mirrors.
Moving up, the XV variant will be equipped with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with segment-first wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rearview camera, push-button engine start-stop, and a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster. On the outside, it gets alloy wheels and LED daytime running lights. Nissan has reserved features such as cruise control, bi-LED headlamps, 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitor and sporty interiors for the top-spec XV Premium variant. It is not yet clear what the XV Premium(O) will offer in addition to those comforts, but it is most likely to be a dual-tone variant.
The Nissan Magnite is a made-in-India model and will be exported to other markets as well. As such, the first production model has already rolled off the line at Nissan’s Chennai facility. The Magnite is expected to go on sale in India before the end of the year with a possible price of Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. It will be going up against the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, and also the upcoming Renault Kiger.
