Lamborghini, the luxury sportscar manufacturer better known for its V12 powered Aventador and V 10 powered Gallardo is now looking forward to bring the Huracan in Indian auto-sector. As per a leading newspaper, we believe that Lamborghini is all set to bring in the Huracan in the second half of this year, while the deliveries are expected to start from the month of September.
Lamborghini Huracan will replace Gallardo, the most successful model of the Italian company globally including India. Huracan, in its true Lamborghini tradition gets its name from the world of bullfighting. Huracan was a fighting bull of the Spanish Conte de la Patilla breed who fought in August 1879 in Alicante and his unyielding character made him invincible. On the launch of Lamborghini Huracan at Geneva Motor Show, Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini said: "With the Huracan, Lamborghini is writing the next chapter in its great history."
Within the first two months, Huracan registered 700 orders worldwide and as of now the booking has already crossed 1000 mark. Well this might be a depressing figure for a normal car, but no we are talking about an INR 3.4 crore (expected) hurrican. In Indian auto-sector, the company too grew up by 29 percent as it sold more than 22 units in 2013. To create some interest in buyers, the auto-maker also hosted special showcasing at the Four Season Hotel in Worli, Mumbai followed by the preview in Delhi. Moreover, now the auto-maker is planning to open its third showroom in Bangalore after the ones in Delhi and Mumbai.
Pavan Shetty, head of operations, Lamborghini India said, "What we have done differently from our competition is that we have dealer outlets in both Delhi and Mumbai. We are also looking at opening a third outlet in Bangalore by the second half of 2014. It will cater to southern market. It will widen our reach and also help in extending our servicing network. We offer round the clock service and our technicians can reach any destination within a day.” He further added, "Delhi is our largest market but we are seeing a lot of interest from buyers in smaller cities like Surat, Ahmedabad, Ludhiana and Chandigarh. The culture of owning and driving sports cars is catching up not only in metros but in tier-II & II cities. These places now contribute around 20 per cent to Lamborghini's annual sales in India."
Powering the Huracan is the 5.2-litre, V10 engine that generates an enormous power of 610bhp and peak torque of 560Nm. The car races from 0 to 100kmph from standstill in less than 3.2 seconds with an electronically limited top-speed of 312kmph.
