Tata Motors owned Land Rover is currently in talks with the Indian government for sale of Land Rovers. The Land Rover vehicles will be used, if sold to the government, in Indian Army. Bob Grace, director (overseas operations), Land Rover said that the talks are under way with the Indian government for the sale of Land Rover but denied to comment on the development of talks as it is confidential. According to a senior official from Land Rover, the company’s research and development team is in process of developing a new model that specifically caters to the needs of defense services around the world including that in India. The new vehicle, which is built on a completely new platform by Land Rover, may also lead to orders from other regions like the European nations, China, Brazil and Russia. Land Rover has witnessed a progressive growth in the demand of its vehicles from emerging economies. It may be noted that Indian government is believed to modernize its weapons and defense gears to combat the imminent threats from its neighbouring countries.
