It is powered by the same engine that does duty in the Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe

Update: Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupe Launched At Rs 74.8 Lakh

Heads-up Mercedes fans as another car with an AMG tag will be launched in India tomorrow. Called the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupe, it will be second AMG-powered coupe-shaped SUV and the third variant of the GLC family that will go on sale in the country. The only other car that shares the same sort of recipe is its elder sibling, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe.

The GLC model range currently consists of two variants - the 220 d 4MATIC and 300 4MATIC. The AMG-tuned 43 4MATIC Coupe will be the most powerful of the three as it will be powered by the same engine, transmission and all-wheel drive system as the GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe. It produces 367PS of power and 520Nm of torque from a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and power is sent to the road via all four wheels. But since the GLC has less weight to ferry around, it completes the 0-100kmph sprint in 4.9 seconds, which is 0.8 seconds faster than the GLE, and reach an electronically limited top-speed of 250kmph.

The AMG in the name suggests that the new offering will be a driver’s car. While all the usual set of gizmos find their place inside and outside the cabin, this performance-oriented SUV will also come with different drive modes to best suit one's style. There are five modes to be exact - Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. If you aren’t happy with any of the predefined driving modes, you can activate the Individual driving mode to changes various parameters like response from the transmission, suspension, engine and steering.

We expect Mercedes-Benz to price this variant around the Rs 75 lakh mark. At that price, it will be competing with the likes of the Audi Q7, BMW X5 and the Volvo XC90, all of which are a couple of segments above it. Would you invest in a product this expensive just for the driving thrills it promises to deliver?
