Little master Sachin and his cars

In India the name Sachin Tendulkar is almost god-like. It is that time once again when all eyes are on the iconic cricketer as he gets ready to play one more world cup of his life.

His conquests on the cricket field are known to all but his love for cars is comparatively an unknown fact. Over the years he has come to own a number of cars of which his Ferrari is the most popular one. He has mentioned a number of times in the media that he has a favourite by each Mercedes Benz, Porsche, BMW and Ferrari.

In his garage you will find beauties like the Mercedes SLS AMG, Mercedes C230, Land Cruiser et al.

The cars he owns reflect a dominant characteristic of his batting style. He has said in the past that he likes to go quickly from zero to 80kmph and then he settles around 100kmph. This is something one can notice in many of his long innings at the crease. Sachin’s need for speed draws from his game.

However, his yearning for speedy thrills doesn’t make him rash in the least bit. He has commented in the press in the past saying that it is the initial surge that he enjoys the most.

Sahin’s affair with these four wheeled beauties started at an early age when he used to ogle onto them at the drive-in theatre near his house. The idea of a car and movie together was very appealing to him and once he found his way into the Indian squad he brought home his first car. 

Like many other Indian’s Sachin’s first car was a Maruti 800. However, today his garage is one of the most bejewelled with superfast cars with expensive badges.

Like many drivers in the country Sachin too finds a car’s rev-friendliness the most exciting feature in it, comfort follows as the second important thing. It is on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway that he satisfies his need for speed. He also drives abroad and has mentioned driving in England as something he has enjoyed.

It’s not just the supercars and fancy wheels that he enjoys, Sachin is an ardent fan of Formula 1 racing and keeps updated about the sport.

Over the years Sachin has bought many cars and many more have been won as man of the match prizes. A shining Volvo S80 is among his latest additions to the long list of cars he has won in matches.
