The regular variants of the facelifted model might get ADAS, which is currently only offered on the sedan’s hybrid version

  • A test mule of 2023 City has been seen with new alloy wheels and tweaked tail lamps.

  • Could get some features over from the City Hybrid, including ADAS.

  • Likely to continue with the same 1.5-litre petrol engine; diesel could be discontinued.

  • Expected to command a small premium over its current price range of Rs 11.67 lakh to Rs 15.62 lakh.

The facelifted fifth-generation Honda City has been spied on in India for the first time. The updated sedan could go on sale here sometime next year. The facelift is unlikely to have major changes, but expect cosmetic upgrades and some feature additions since the model has been unchanged post its debut in 2020.

The spy shot shows the facelifted City’s new alloy wheels and tweaked tail lamps. Besides, it could get a new front grille and some additional colour options as well.

The cabin is also expected to receive some upgrades, but mostly, the layout will remain unchanged. In terms of features, it could get some feature additions like wireless charging, ventilated seats, electronic parking brake, auto hold, and more connected car features.

The facelifted City’s regular variants could also get advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) like the City Hybrid does at present. The Hybrid’s ADAS suite includes collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, auto high beam assist, and lane-keep assist.

2023 Honda City

The 2023 Honda City is expected to continue with its 121PS, 1.5-litre petrol engine, paired with either a manual transmission or a CVT. There are chances that its diesel engine could be discontinued in the wake of upcoming (and stricter) emission norms. The sedan also gets a strong-hybrid powertrain that Honda claims delivers 26.5kmpl.

The facelifted model is expected to command a minor premium over its current prices, which ranges from Rs 11.67 lakh to Rs 15.62 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). We’re expecting it to launch sometime in 2023.
