Luxury car sales plunge in India

The Indian automobiles market is facing a tough time with the current economical scenario on the India with a slap of inflation and the drop down in the number of customers. The Indian car market is witnessing a steep fall in the car sales of passenger cars these days. They are going through hard times with an alarming deterioration in their business in India. In totality the Indian car market has experienced a fall of about 16 per cent in the month of July last year.

The luxury car segment, which in the last thirty months witnessed growth of around 50-55 percent , is also going through bad times and down fall in their sales. Last year, the total sales share of luxury cars from the Indian car market was around 1.5 per cent which figures out to be Rs. 18.15 lakh. For the first time in the last three years, Mercedes Benz is going through a drop down in their sales in India and this is a major cause of concern as this ultimately targets their next upcoming car models.

The top variants and high class car models of BMW and Audi India are experiencing a fatal decline in the Indian car market as their top variants and models of luxury cars are less preferred than the BMW X1 and Audi A4 sedans, which have been marked as low featured and less priced luxury cars. BMW sold around 840 units of cars in July with a maximum sale of BMW X1 priced around Rs. 27 lakh. Audi A4 is available at Rs. 27.18 lakh is also preferred more than the more expensive luxury cars of Audi.
