German luxury carmakers are making an entering into the hatchback segment in India. Mercedes-Benz and BMW both have announced the launch of their hatchbacks, A-Class and 1 Series respectively next year. Audi India hasn’t made any announcement of the A3 launch yet, but the company had showcased the A3 at the Auto Expo this year. With the growing competition we can expect the A3 to also enter soon. These models will help the German manufacturers to drive their sales and help them achieve a higher volume. BMW will also be introducing the revised X1 to compete against the Q3. The X1 at the moment is the entry-level BMW in India. Mercedes-Benz has already introduced the B-Class and now is preparing to get the A-Class by mid 2013 (probably in July).
Volvo is also to introduce smaller vehicles and has already got the D3 engine on its various models. Jaguar will also soon get the 2.2-litre engine on the XF S. This will again help them to achieve higher volumes. The luxury car market is growing two to three times faster than the overall car sales and these happenings will further accelerate the grow of the market. So, if you are planning to buy a luxury car, then you might just get a lot more options than before.
