Mahindra Renault to launch two new cars this year

Mahindra & Mahindra and its French car maker Renault is planning to launch two new car models in India this year. A Renault spokesman told reporters that to utilise the capacity of Nashik facility, the company is thinking over to introduce one or two new car models from the plant in the current year. However, the spokesman declined to give any detail of the launches. On the other hand, the company already announced to indefinitely postponed plans to launch products from its Chennai facility. Renault's joint venture with M&M, Mahindra Renault Pvt Ltd, currently produce the Logan at the Nashik plant, which has an installed capacity of 50,000 units per year annum. It had produced 14,404 units in 2008-09 compared to 26,653 units in the previous fiscal due to fall in domestic car demand.
