Mahindra Reva expects to sell 2500 EV by 2011

A company official of Mahindra Reva stated that they are forecasting to sell around 2500 Mahindra Reva in India by 2011. Pavan Sachdeva, Mahindra Reva General Manager for Marketing stated that they hope to sell 1200 units by the end of this financial year.
The new manufacturing facility at Banglore for Mahindra Reva is expected to start by April next year. Sachdeva told that the new facility at Bangalore will have the capacity to produce 30,000 units per annum. At present the existing plant has the capacity to manufacture 1200 to 1500 units per month. The car is also been exported overseas which includes UK, Norway, Spain and France.
By 2012, the company would also introduce a four seater electric car. Sachedeva stated that company's objective is to manufacture sustainable and enviornment friendly vehicles. The company is also expecting to gain tax incentive for Mahindra Reva from the Kerela government.
Moreover, Sachdeva added that the Delhi government has given 29.5 percent subsidy and Rajasthan government has also provided VAT and Road Tax subsidy on this eco-friendly car. Sachdeva also added that the Union Ministry for New and Renewable Energy has given Rs. 1 lakhs or 20% subsidy on the factory price of Mahindra Reva.
Mahindra is now a stake holder for Indias electric car maker Reva and is would bring in Mahindra Reva NXR by mid-2011. The car will be a four seater and is specially meant for Indian conditions. The two seater model of this car has already been launched by the company in Delhi and Bangalore. Pawan Goenka, President of automotive & farm equipment sector, Mahindra & Mahindra stated that they intend to introduce the car to other cities too and all set to bring in the four seater Reva NXR by next year.
