Mahindra Thar launch to take place in December 2010

Mahindra & Mahindra India is all set to bring back Mahindra Thar, the SUV which looks like jeep, in December, 2010. Mahindra Thar will be a sophisticated version of the car model Commander Jeep which after a sabbatical of 10 years is entering the Indian auto market. A 2500 cc turbo-diesel injection common rail engine along with 4 cylinder powers this SUV. The Mahindra Thar is expected to be available at a price of Rs 8 lakh which will first be seen in tourist places in India such as Rajasthan and Kerala. The SUV, Mahindra Thar is already running on the roads of South Africa where it comes with a price tag of Rs 9.5 to Rs 10 lakh. Mahindra is working towards making Mahindra Thar as per the Indian conditions and to suit the needs of the buyers.

Mahindra had recently exhibited the SUV Mahindra Thar model at the Bologna Motor Show. The new jeep like SUV will be loaded with 2500 cc turbo-diesel injection common rail engine with 4 cylinder, which can churn out a power of 107 Kw. Mahindra hopes to re-establish the SUV Mahindra Thar and set new standards for the new car model. Mahindra, this time for Mahindra Thar has used the company's new generation independent torsion-bar front suspension system which is affixed in Mahindra Scorpio. At the SUVs rear, the leaf-spring suspension present in Mahindra Bolero, is attached. The engine in Mahindra Thar engine is equipped with a full-synchromesh five-speed gearbox and manual shift Borg-Warner 4x4 transfer case with 2.48:1 low ratio which is sure to make it a great off roader. The SUV Mahindra Thar has open differentials in the front and rear (the front differential chassis which is mounted).

Mahindra plans huge this year as by March 2011, the Indian leader in the SUV segment will take over the South Korean company, Ssangyong Motors. It also plans to assemble and market the well known Ssanyong's Korando and Rexton SUVs in India. Currently, Mahindra sells four SUVs in India, Mahindra Bolero, Mahindra Xylo, Mahindra Scorpio and Mahindra Scorpio W.
