Decembers are not always about attractive year-end offers. They are also the time when manufacturers announce price hikes. This year, a lot of automakers have already declared a rise in the prices of their offerings; others are likely to follow soon. So, we have come up with a consolidated report of all the price hikes: the declared as well as the upcoming.
Chevrolet India
American automaker Chevrolet is the latest one to announce a price hike in the coming year. Effective January 01, 2017, GM India will increase prices across its line-up between 1 to 3 per cent, depending on the product and the variant, which will make vehicles costlier by approximately Rs 30,000 in 2017. Besides this, Chevrolet is currently running year-end offers under the ‘Dumdar December’ scheme.
Isuzu
Isuzu Motors India has announced in an official release that, effective January 01, 2017, the Japanese automaker will increase the prices of the D-Max V-Cross and the D-Max S-Cab by 3 to 4 per cent.
Honda
Starting January 01, 2017, Honda Cars India will increase the prices across its line-up by up to 3 per cent. Like the other manufacturers, the Japanese automaker stated in an official release that “increasing pressure on input costs and fluctuating exchange rates” are the primary reasons for the hike.
Mercedes-Benz
Starting January 01, 2017, Mercedes-Benz India has announced a price revision of its entire model range. The German automaker will increase the prices by up to 2 per cent, varying across the model range. Mercedes-Benz has stated in an official release that the increase is due to the inflation, coupled with rising input costs and increasing forex rates.
Volkswagen
Volkswagen India will increase prices across its entire model line-up – including the Ameo compact sedan and the recently launched Polo GTI – w.e.f. January 01, 2017. The German major said in an official release that the revision in price will be up to 3 per cent, depending on the product and variant.
Nissan Group India
Nissan Group India, which sells the Nissan and Datsun range of cars in the country, will increase the prices of the cars in its portfolio by up to Rs 30,000. The Japanese automaker stated in an official release that the hike is courtesy of the rising raw material costs.
Hyundai
India’s second-largest passenger automaker Hyundai announced a proposed price increase, effective from January 01, 2017, across all its models. The hike per car would be up to Rs 1,00,000. The South Korean auto major said in an official release that the reasons behind this move are increased input costs, fluctuating exchange rates and increasing marketing expenses.
Tata Motors
Home-grown automaker Tata revealed that owing to various macro-economic factors, it will be increasing the prices of its passenger vehicles from January 01, 2017. The hike will range from Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000, depending on the model.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor
The world’s largest automaker, Toyota, will increase the prices of its Indian line-up by up to 3 per cent from January 01, 2017. The Japanese automaker highlighted in an official release that the announcement is in line with the general industry trend, prompted by the increasing cost of manufacturing and a consistent upward trend in foreign exchange rates.
