Maruti 800, Chevrolet Tavera and Skoda Octavia to be phased-out in India

As the new emission norm BS-IV has been applied in India's 13 big cities, many car manufacturers announced the phase-out of their bad performing cars in India. The cars which are going to be phase-out from India includes Maruti 800, Skoda Octavia and Chevrolet Tavera.

Maruti 800, which was launched in India more than two decade back, has been taken out from 13 major cities of India where the new emission norm BS-IV has been implemented. Though there were reports that Maruti will up-grade the 800 model as per the new emission norms, but last month company made it clear that it has no plans of upgrading Maruti 800 model as its small car Alto is doing quite well in India.

On the Other hand Skoda is also planning to phase-out its one of the most popular cars in India, Skoda Octavia. Again same as the Maruti 800, the Octavia will be discontinued in 13 Indian cities where new emission norms BS-IV have been applied.

In addition to this the General Motors India has decided to stop retailing its Chevrolet Tavera model in 13 Indian cities where BS-IV has been applied.

While in the remaining cities of India where the new emission norms BS-III has been applied, these cars will still be available.
