Maruti Suzuki India has tied high hopes with the introduction of all-new hatch christened as Celerio. Particularly, when its all about hatchback segment, Maruti shines out to be the segment leading brand in India. And now with the new Celerio coming, the competition seems to churning more fierce, and every other brand's sales are bound to get affected after the hatch gets launched. It is considerably a replacement for the the A-Star and Estilo models of Maruti.
Under the hood, the Celerio gets a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder K-Series petrol engine that belts out max power of 67bhp and 90Nm of peak torque. Most interesting highlight of the car is the newly instilled EZ Drive in it. Under this technology, the engine is mated to five speed automatic manual transmission and also with an option of four speed automatic transmission. The highly acclaimed K-Series engine is combined with drive by wires which allows improved torque delivery and an amazing fuel economy. It delivers an astounding mileage figure of 23.1kmpl. To describe in detail, the automated manual transmission is basically an auto gearshift, but there's no clutch pedal inside the car. This ultimately gives a feel as in case of automatic transmission gearbox. The hatch will come up in three trim levels- LXi, VXi and ZXi.
Inside the vehicle, the cabin is certainly roomier than the A-Star model, while the front seats offer good comfort levels. The dashboard gets a clean design and appears functional, also the U-shaped center console that houses air-con controls and stereo, all-together looks classy. In terms of comfort, new Celerio will definitely give tough fight to its rival Honda Brio, which is also rated top most when it comes to space and comfort. There's also two cupholders in front, a bottleholder on each rear door and another space to hold bottle behind the handbrake. Boot space measures at 235-litres, which is pretty decent for this segment car.
