Latest development in the ongoing strike at Maruti India Manesar plant suggests that the issue will be resolved sooner than expected. Reports further states that recent intervention of CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta in the matter resulted in delivering quite useful outcomes. CPI leader said that the solution is not far away and will be resolved soon even while the worker’s strike continued for 13th day. Dasgupta commented that he had concluded talks with Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda regarding the on-going strike at Maruti Suzuki plant and the solution is in hand.

Dasgupta confirmed that, according to the drafted agreement, Maruti India will re-instate all the 11 employees who were dismissed on 6th June and clause regarding management's decision of not allowing trade union activities at the plant will not be mentioned.He further commented that to show solidarity towards agitating workers, worker unions of neighboring auto industries will go on a mass hunger strike on June 17 and will conduct a two-hour tool-down token strike on June 20.

According to the reports, employees of about 65 auto industries present in Gurgaon- Manesar industrial region have decided to work empty stomach on June 17 and will hold a two-hour tool-down token strike on June 20 to support the cause of striking employees of Maruti Suzuki.AITUC General Secretary and CPI leader, Gurudas Dasgupta said that it is significant that no incident of violence was reported and workers stayed unified, responsible and tolerant throughout the strike.

He further congratulated the workers union of neighboring industries in Gurgaon-Manesar region for supporting the cause of agitating Maruti workers at the Manesar plant.It is worth mentioning that workers of Maruti Suzuki Manesar plant went on strike on June 4, owing to the demand of new worker union, Maruti Suzuki Employees Union (MSEU), comprising of Manesar plant workers. Furthermore, due to this strike, Maruti India suffered huge losses and production of new Maruti Swift Dzire, Maruti Swift and Maruti SX4 cars is still on hold.
