Maruti Kizashi to be brought as a CBU in India

Maruti Kizashi, the much awaited sedan model from Maruti Suzuki, which was showcased at the New Delhi Auto Expo 2010 in New Delhi, will be launched in India by the end of this year, as confirmed by company sources. It is Suzuki Motor Corporation’s flagship model in the D-segment and is also its sixth World Strategic model. Kizashi in Japanese means ‘a sign of great things to come’. the company has already started selling this sedan in Japan on October 21, 2009 and while in North America it was introduced on December 1, 2009.
Initially, the company will import the Kizashi model as a CBU (completely built-up unit) from its Sagara plant in Japan during this year, and Eventually, the company may consider importing CKD kits from the same plant later subject to market demand. It is expected that the kizashi model will be launch in India with a price tag of Rs 12 to Rs 14 lakh and it will possibly be powered with a 2.4L engine.
In the overseas markets, the Kizashi is available standard with front-wheel drive, while the all wheel drive is optional and includes a driver-activated FWD mode to save fuel. It is coming with a 2.4-litre VVT petrol engine with six-speed manual transmission, though a V6 or turbo-charged four cylinder option is expected at a later date. Offered in 17 and 18-inch alloy wheels, Akebono sourced brakes, a choice of cloth or leather seating surfaces, and a 425-watt Rockford Fosgate audio system with iPod connectivity and Bluetooth capability, it is particular positioned as a highway cruiser.
