Maruti seeks to set up third facility in Rohtak

The common man's manufacturer is thinking on the lines of setting up its third facility in Rohtak, accredit to the astonishing surge in sales, the company has taken this decision. The auto biggie marked its entry in the luxury car segment in the Indian automobile fraternity with the launch of its first luxury car Maruti Kizashi in the month of February. As per the close sources Rohtak plant will have an enormous capacity of delivering 6 lakh cars per annum.

Concerning the outstripped demand for Maruti cars, the comapny has taken the decision to accelerate the manufacturing . Rumour has it that the Rohtak plant will be scattered over 600 acres , which is approximately double the size of its Gurgaon facility which is built on 300 acres area. Maruti is likely to spend around Rs 1000 crore on the Rohtak plant. With the onset of the Rohatk plant the company will be able to achieve the target of manufacturing more than 20 lakh cars in a year.

Consolidated production at the two facilities in Gurgaon and Manesar is around 12 lakh cars in a year. With Rohtak plant pitching in, the company's production will increase by 50 per cent. Maruti already has a research and development facility in Rohtak , however the final decision to build a new plant in Rohtak will be taken within ten to twelve months.

The expansion of Maruti's facility in Manesar is also in works which is expected to be completed by the end of the year 2012 and 2013. The company is spending Rs 2000 crore on the expansion of the Manesar facility.
