Maruti to stand on top Country’s largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki, has pulled its sleeves up to pierce all the competition and dazzle on the top position in the domestic market. The company is working on aggressive strategy to grab 45-50 per cent share as the company held earlier in India which is speculated to hit 5 million units by year 2015. at present the market is having a capacity of 2 million. Among the top priorities, Marui will come up with upgraded version of the car models from compact segment and multi-utility vehicle (MUV) segment.

The company is looking forward to hit back the compact car segment with a few new launches and give a tough time to the existing players like Toyota, Ford, General Motors and Honda.
Last year at the Auto Expo we saw the company’s Maruti R3 MUV which is a 6 seater car with which the company will mark its foot print in the long ignored segment. Addressing the strategies, Maruti Suzuki Managing Director Shinzo Nakanishi has commented that the Maruti A2 (compact) segment holds a share of straight 60% among the total cars sold in the Indian auto market.
He said that company will retain this percentage in coming five years and the company will further strengthen its position in market. Nakanishi also stated that Sports utility Vehicle and Multi utility vehicle market amounts to 12% of the total sales, and the gypsy share constituted by the company is negligible. He then claimed that company will be working hard to capture this particular unexplored segment as well. He talked about its Maruti R3 as a concept car and said that the company is going through rigorous market research to get the idea about MUV launch.
