So its official now, Maruti Suzuki will launch the much-anticipated Ciaz on October 6th. Arriving as a replacement for the not-so-successful SX4, the new C-segment entrant will be competing against the likes of Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Verna and Honda City. Maruti Suzuki dealers are already pre-booking the sedan from last month with an amount of just INR 21,000.
In terms of looks and equipments, the Ciaz stands way above than the SX4. It comes equipped with bundle of high-end goodies, including first-in-class projector headlamps, new 16 inch alloy wheels in the top-end trim, while the regular variants will sport 15 inchers, key-less entry, window blinds, a touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking camera, climate control, ABS and two airbags, rear AC vents, push button stop-start system and many more.
The engine options on the sedan will be borrowed from the brand's Ertiga MPV. The diesel variants will come equipped with the same the same Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre-DDiS diesel mill that churns out 90PS and peak torque of 200Nm, while the petrol variants will now come packed with 1.4-litre K-series petrol unit, rated at 92PS and 130Nm of max. torque, ditching the earlier 1.6-litre motor of SX4. The petrol Ciaz has an ARAI certified mileage of 20.7 kmpl and the diesel posts the segment-best 26.2 kmpl.. Unlike the regular Maruti products, the Ciaz will get ZXI+ and the ZDI+.top-of-the-line variants and will be offered in a choice of seven colours to choose from.
We recently drove the Ciaz, and were very impressed with the overall package Maruti is offering with it. Read the comprehensive report here : Maruti Ciaz First Drive
