The BS6 petrol engine might actually make the Maruti crossover cheaper than before
The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is due to be launched in its BS6 petrol-only avatar on August 5. Its pre-bookings are now open and the variant list has been confirmed. Thanks to the petrol engine, the S-Cross will also get an automatic option for the first time.

The 2020 S-Cross will be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech as the facelifted Vitara Brezza and XL6. This engine delivers an output of 105PS and 138Nm and will be mated to a 5-speed manual, with the option of a 4-speed automatic as well. There won’t be any cosmetic updates or feature additions apart from the latest version of Maruti’s 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It will continue to get comforts like auto AC, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers and LED projector headlamps. Given that the petrol S-Cross won’t get any changes apart from the engine, let’s look at the expected prices:

The S-Cross will resume its rivalry with the likes of the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Nissan Kicks. It will also take on the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun and the production-spec version of the Skoda VISION IN. Here’s how the Maruti crossover’s expected prices compare to its rivals that are already on sale:
