Maruti SX4 diesel to drive in at the right time

Diesel variants are scoring high over petrol variant cars due to hike in the prices of the latter. The diesel car manufacturers dream of receiving maximum orders but it seems it is turning into a horror. For instance Maruti Suzuki the Indian auto mobile manufacturer is developing diesel cars which has raised its manufacturing capacity from 100,000 to 300,000 but still the waiting period doesn't seem to end. Maruti Swift and Maruti Swift Dzire diesel variants had to wait for months and now the club also includes Maruti Ritz. Its rival Volkswagen Vento diesel waiting list seems to be too long. And now when Maruti is coming with Maruti SX4 diesel version it is truly playing its cards at the right time.

Maruti SX4 diesel version is expected to be powered with “Super Turbo” diesel engine. The maximum power it will generate is 88.7 bhp @ 4000 rpm and 20.4 kgm @ 1750 rpm including a new variable geometry tubocharger. It will help to provide the best possible airflow and fuel efficiency. The ECU in the car, is also has a high pressure pump and fuel injection system (1600 bar) too, both will be used to improve fuel efficiency and power delivery. Maruti SX4 will also be the first car and is speculated to add OBD-2 norms which will be introduced in India. OBD means ‘On Board Diagnostics’ which will inform the car driver if there is an issue with the automobile's emission control system.

The NVH levels are expected to be in control and seems to deliver a great driving experience, the clutch is expected to be lighter. Maruti SX4 seems a smooth vehicle on roads which will require less physical strength to drive away.

The Maruti SX4 diesel steering wheel is slightly heavy at slow speeds but it is better once the grip is achieved. The powertrain is best at the low to mid section of torque which is a blessing on the congested city roads. The sedan will hit 160 kmph in top speed and 100 kmph is claimed to be achieved in just 14.5 seconds.

The sources reveal that 55 kg has been added and to balance out the weight suspension and brakes have been redesigned and are also affixed with better ride quality.

Maruti Suzuki is giving the same features on both the version, the diesel version is available in VDi, ZDi and ZDi along with leather seats. The car is not loaded with very many features. The car has tough competition with Honda City, though the C segment has started feeling the heat. The C-segment has a tough fight and it will be interesting to see who will win the fight and conqueror the respective segment.
