Maruti Targets 1crore Cars Within 6-7 Years

Maruti targets 1crore cars within 6-7 years Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest car manufacturer has disclosed a strong target of manufacturing 1 crore cars repetitively for 2nd time within a period of 6 to 7 year from now. The company will achieve this big target by launching its two new manufacturing facilities at Manesar. The company was able to reach a manufacturing mark of 1 crore unit in a time span of 27 long years since its inception on March 15 when its first made Maruti M800 in Gurgaon.
Making a statement, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Chairman R C Bhargava said that the company will build up 2 new plants in Manesar. He also said that looking at th tremendous growth of auto market Maruti Suzuki will reach a mark of 1 crore vehicle production in a much shorter duration as against the 27 years taken last time. He also said that this target can be achieved by the company by 2017-18 probably. Rs 3,625 crore investment is announced by the company officials for setting up the manufacturing facility at Manesar with a capacity of 2.5 lakh units annually. Currently Suzuki holds a share of 54.2% in Maruti and the group holds a production facility at Gurgaon with the annual capacity of 8.5 lakh units.
As per the company’s claim, the production process from October 2010 in the facility has been ramped up by 10 folds which amount to 1.1 lakh units every month. With this decision the company has reached an annual output of 14 lakh cars for 2011-12. Since its inception in 1983, the company has registered a great success in the Indian auto market and in the coming week the company will touch the production of one crore units. Bhargava has also commented that a production capacity of 10 lakh units every year is a bigger achievement marked by the company. This is going to be a great achievement from the company.
