Maruti To Check For Parts Import From Japan; Celebrations Called Off For 1 Crore Production Mark India’s Largest Car Manufacture

Maruti Suzuki India has announced to start the review process for the feasibility of continuing components import from Japan after the devastating earthquake and tsunami in the country. The company has called off the celebrations which were due for achieving the remarkable 1 crore production mark in India.
Addressing the issue, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Managing Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales) Mayank Pareek commented that the natural calamity in Japan will surely affect the production process of Maruti Suzuki operations in India. He also said that the company is trying to analyze the total effect of this earthquake on the component imports from Japan by the company in long term. He also added that the company keeps an emergency stock also known as the buffer stock which can keep the production process on for 2 complete weeks and thus for this period the production will not be affected and then after the company has to look forward for the inputs supply. Pareek denied on commenting further on this issue and said that the details will be given once the assessment is completed by the company.
For now the celebrations of the company to reach the mark of 1,00,00,000th car on 16th of March 2011 is being called off by the company. The reason behind the decision is the earthquake in Japan. On the announcement, MSI Chairman R C Bhargava commented that the natural calamity is a big tragedy on mankind and this is the major reason that the celebrations for Maruti Suzuki India are being called off. He also assured that the MSI employees working in Suzuki plant in Hamamatsu, are safe. Recently he also claimed that the other mark of 1 crore vehicle will be achieved by the company in a shorter duration of 6-7 years from now.
